The Leprosy and Tuberculosis Relief Initiative (LTR), through its ASA Health Partners, has commenced a targeted tuberculosis (TB) screening exercise for children aged 0–10 years in the Sabon Gari community of Nangere Local Government Area, Yobe State.
The intervention, conducted in collaboration with the Yobe State Agency for the Control of AIDS (YOSACA), aims to bridge the gap in pediatric TB case detection by proactively identifying undiagnosed cases within the community.
This is contained in a press statement made available to journalist by LTR’s Media and Communication Officer, Saleh Farouq.
The statement further noted that the exercise is designed to ensure early diagnosis and the immediate linkage of affected children to treatment and care.
It also emphasized that children in high-burden settings often remain underserved due to significant diagnostic challenges and limited access to specialized medical services.
The statement also emphasize the screening reflects LTR’s commitment to strengthening community-level responses and improving equity in service delivery.
By prioritizing strategic collaboration and community-focused implementation, the initiative seeks to ensure that no child is left behind in the national effort to eradicate the disease.
