The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has congratulated the first female Executive Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Ms Elizabeth Aina Egharevba, on her 70th birthday.
In a congratulatory message signed by his spokesman, Dr Bolaji Akinola, on Tuesday, the minister described Egharevba’s platinum jubilee as a milestone worthy of national recognition.
Oyetola commended Egharevba’s nearly three-decade career at the NPA, noting that her professionalism and leadership earned her widespread respect across the maritime sector.
According to the minister, her appointment in November 2007 as the first woman to serve as Executive Director, Marine and Operations, was a landmark achievement that advanced gender inclusion within the industry.
Oyetola said: “Your career has not only been distinguished by personal excellence but has also paved the way for greater participation of women in leadership within the maritime industry.
“As you celebrate this significant milestone, it is my sincere hope that you take pride in the enduring legacy you have built and the indelible impact you have made on Nigeria’s maritime landscape.”
He further recalled her tenure as Port Manager of the RORO Port and later the Lagos Port Complex, Apapa, describing those roles as clear demonstrations of her administrative expertise.
The minister added that Egharevba’s legacy serves as a source of inspiration for future generations of women in public service, commending her for embodying the values of diligence and integrity.
While wishing her continued good health and fulfillment, Oyetola noted that her pioneering role remains a defining chapter in the evolution of Nigeria’s maritime sector.
