The Director-General of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, has reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to strengthening peacebuilding efforts through strategic partnerships following the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with five non-governmental organizations in Abuja.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Ochogwu described the partnership as a significant step toward consolidating collective efforts to address Nigeria’s complex and evolving conflict landscape.
He stated that the IPCR remains dedicated to delivering impactful services to the government and citizens through evidence-based research, policy advocacy, and direct interventions.
“Conflicts and social problems are constantly evolving and, in some cases, mutating. This demands critical thinking and forward-looking strategies to provide sustainable solutions. The Institute is committed to delivering services through research, advocacy, direct interventions, and capacity development for diverse stakeholders,” he said.
The Director-General emphasized that the IPCR collaborates closely with government institutions, international bodies, civil society, and community-based groups to foster stability.
He urged the partner organizations to ensure the agreements transcend formalities, stressing that the Institute prioritizes implementation and measurable impact over paperwork.
“These MoUs are signed with the belief that you will do the work and impact lives. We do not just believe in signing MoUs; we believe in activating the spirit behind them. Our focus is on practical collaboration, leveraging comparative strengths, and ensuring these partnerships deliver real value to society,” Ochogwu added.
The organizations that signed MoUs with the IPCR are:
Carl-Maji Foundation: Represented by its Director of Programs, Faith Ayegba. Established in 2015, the foundation focuses on empowering women and youth, promoting education, and advancing gender equality.
3C’s Met International Institute: Led by Principal Partner, Chijoke Nnanna Ibeku. A specialized Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) organization, it provides professional training in mediation, negotiation, and conciliation.
Ihotu Children and Women Support Initiative (ICAWSI): Represented by Executive Director, Emmanuel Grace Eki. Founded in 2013, the group focuses on education, mentorship, and health support for vulnerable women and children in rural and conflict-affected areas.
Esteemed Hub Foundation: Led by Princess Doosugh Agbadu Adu. This youth-focused organization drives initiatives in mental health, climate action, and sustainable development across several Nigerian states.
Peace Education and Practice Network (PEPNET): Represented by Ambassador Moses Abolade. The organization is dedicated to integrating conflict resolution skills into schools and communities to address the root causes of insecurity.
The signing ceremony marks a strategic move by the IPCR to deepen its multi-stakeholder approach to conflict prevention and sustainable development in Nigeria.
