Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi, representing Ogun West under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has fallen victim to a cyber-attack, resulting in the hacking of one of his telephone lines. In a press statement issued today, the Senator’s office urged the public to ignore any financial solicitation messages purportedly sent by him.
Reports indicate that individuals posing as the Senator have been requesting financial transfers to various bank accounts, with the goal of exploiting unsuspecting friends, family members, and associates. Senator Adeola’s office has made it clear that he would never ask for money transfers to handle urgent or emergency issues.
Chief Kayode Odunaro, Media Adviser to Senator Adeola, stated, “Members of the public, including friends, relations, family members, and associates, are advised to disregard any solicitations, as they do not originate from Senator Adeola.” The statement assured that relevant security agencies have been informed of the incident and that efforts are underway to trace the perpetrators and identify the accounts associated with these fraudulent messages.
This incident serves as a reminder of the rising risks associated with cybercrime, highlighting the need for vigilance when receiving unsolicited requests, particularly those involving financial transactions. The Senator’s office calls for caution among the public and reiterates that all legitimate communication from the Senator will follow official channels.
For further information or to report suspicious communications, the public is encouraged to contact Senator Adeola’s office directly.
