The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has begun implementing the ₦32,000, 10.66 per cent and 12.95 per cent pension increments for pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).
The adjustment took effect from the September 2025 payroll, following the release of ₦20.188 billion out of the ₦45 billion emergency funding earlier approved by the Federal Government.
PTAD’s Executive Secretary said the increment reflects government’s commitment to pensioners’ welfare. “This achievement clearly reaffirms the Federal Government’s dedication to safeguarding the welfare and entitlements of DBS pensioners in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda,” she said.
She praised President Bola Tinubu for approving the special funding. “The allocation will enhance the welfare of our pensioners and redefine the future of DBS pension administration,” she added.
The Directorate also thanked key officials, including the Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun, the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, and the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila. “Their timely interventions and coordinated efforts made this possible,” PTAD noted.
It further commended pension unions for their cooperation during the process. “We appreciate the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) and the Federal Parastatals and Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigeria (FEPPPAN) for their understanding and perseverance,” the statement said.
PTAD assured pensioners that efforts are ongoing to secure the balance of the approved funds. “We will continue to collaborate with relevant authorities towards the release of the outstanding funds and the fulfilment of all future obligations relating to the pension increments,” the Executive Secretary affirmed.
