The Coalition of Northern Youth Forum of Nigeria, one of the influential youth groups in Northern Nigeria, has honoured the Chairman of the Independent Media and Policy Initiative (IMPI), Dr. Niyi Akinsiju, with an award in recognition of his contributions to nation-building.
At a brief ceremony in Abuja, the group also conferred on him the traditional title of “Jakadan Zaman Lafiya Najeriya” (Ambassador of Peace in Nigeria).
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Coalition, Comrade Iliya Danladi, said Akinsiju was carefully nominated for the award due to his unwavering commitment to patriotism and national development.
“Dr. Akinsiju has shown resilience in furthering the ideals of patriotism and nationalism. He has consistently spoken on socio-economic and political issues with a zeal that we expect many Nigerian youth to emulate,” Danladi said.
He further noted that Akinsiju’s history of leadership dates back to his University years where he served as a youth leader, a foundation that has reflected in his current contributions to nation-building.
In his response, Dr. Akinsiju thanked the Coalition for the honour, commending its efforts in empowering young people in the North.
“I deeply appreciate this recognition. The Coalition of Northern Youth Forum of Nigeria has done remarkable work in uplifting young people through various projects, and I am inspired by their dedication,” Akinsiju said.
He pledged to live up to the expectations of the “Jakadan Zaman Lafiya Najeriya” title, promising to continue championing causes that promote unity, peace, and development in Nigeria.
