
NGO Educates rural women on issues surrounding climate change.

As part of efforts to educate rural women on the effects of climate change in Benue State, Sauri Growth Initiative for Women and Youth with Disabilities a non governmental organization successfully organized a 2-Day Training with the theme “Building Climate Resilience: Empowering Women and Girls with Disabilities in Benue State” in otukpo local government of the stat.
Executive Director of the organization, Comfort Ekwo in her welcome remark urged the rural women especially those in otukpo to change their perception about climate change
The executive Director also said “Women with disabilities must learn to use their voice and advocate for themselves. They have the power to create change and build a more inclusive, climate-resilient future.”
On her part, the Project Officer, Ogbodo Precious Nneka, said “the training brought together 30 women and girls with disabilities to equip them with essential knowledge and skills to address climate change challenges. The interactive sessions aimed to promote inclusive climate policies and empower participants to advocate for their rights.”
Renowned facilitator, Samuel Kenneth Yashim, expertly led the sessions, delivering comprehensive and engaging presentations on two topics
1. Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation: Strategies for resilience and
2. Advocacy for Inclusive Climate Policies: Amplifying voices
For the participants, the facilitators thank the Organization for bringing such gestures to otukpo as it is the first time a non governmental organization is addressing some of the basic questions about climate change and how they can present man made environmental issues.
