Editor
The Kimpact Development Initiative has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Youth Service Corps to establish a Civic and Voter Education Community Development Service group for corps members across Nigeria.
The partnership, which was formalised at the NYSC National Headquarters on March 11, 2026, is aimed at expanding civic education and deepening democratic participation nationwide.
Under the initiative, thousands of corps members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will be mobilised to promote voter and civic education within their host communities through the KDI Civic and Voter Education CDS group.
The programme is expected to leverage the national reach of the NYSC scheme to ensure voter education messages reach underserved populations.
According to a statement by the KDI Communications Manager, Mercy Abiem, the initiative will ensure that all voter education efforts remain accurate, inclusive, and aligned with national electoral guidelines.
The statement read in part, “This partnership represents a significant milestone in institutionalising youth-led civic engagement in Nigeria. By embedding voter education activities within the NYSC structure, the programme creates a sustainable platform for young Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to strengthening democratic culture and electoral integrity.”
KDI further reaffirmed its commitment to promoting democratic governance and advancing electoral accountability through strategic partnerships and innovative civic engagement programmes.
