In commemoration of International Women’s Day, Executive Secretary National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, James David Lalu has stated that the 2024 theme for the event which is “Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress is a notable coinage that also speaks volumes on the inclusions and development of women with disabilities.
The Executive Secretary made this disclosure in his office today while fielding questions from Newsmen on the relevance of the Day to women with Disabilities.
James Lalu said”Women with Disabilities are full-fledged part of the women folk who have overtime proven that with the right investments in their welfare, there is no barrier and huddle that is insurmountable; when you build a woman, you build the world”
The Executive Secretary also used the medium to wish women a spectacular celebration and urged women with disabilities to join their fellow women in celebration with their shoulders held high as this Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration is a unique corridor to their welfare.
Head Women and Gender Unit of the commission Patience Ogolo Dickson in her contributions stated that the 2024 theme was set to push for progress in gender equality and to accelerate the collective progress of all women.
She said “Women With Disabilities are strong, capable resilient, and can inspire and be inspired, and very importantly, issues of all women including women with Disabilities should be prioritized to accelerate our collective progress,”
The 2024 theme of International Women’s Day is Inspire Inclusion with a focus on addressing economic disempowerment.
