The Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Honourable Kabiru Amadu, has congratulated the Super Eagles and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on their deserved victory over Rwanda, which has reignited Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a statement, Honourable Kabiru, who represents Gusau/Tsafe Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, urged the players not to be carried away with the victory and to remain focused on the remaining games, particularly the matchday 6 against Zimbabwe in Uyo.
Mai Palace, as he is fondly called, said, “I want to congratulate the NFF and the Super Eagles for the victory the Nigeria national team picked in Kigali today. When they came for budget defense at the national assembly, the NFF promised to do everything possible in making that Nigeria don’t miss world cup back to back. Today, with the 2-0 victory, it’s becoming a reality.”
He emphasized that the team’s work is far from over, saying, “However, it is not over yet. The eyes of the players and the officials must be on the ball always until remaining matches are won.”
The Super Eagles’ victory over Rwanda has given them six points from five games, while South Africa tops the Group C table with 10 points after beating Lesotho 2-0. Benin Republic is second with 8 points, following a 2-2 draw with Zimbabwe, while Rwanda is third with seven points from five games.
Honourable Kabiru’s congratulatory message is a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication. The Super Eagles have been working tirelessly to ensure that Nigeria qualifies for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The team’s victory over Rwanda is a significant step towards achieving this goal. With their current standing in Group C, the Super Eagles are well-positioned to qualify for the World Cup.
However, as Honourable Kabiru emphasized, the team must remain focused and avoid complacency. The remaining games will be crucial in determining Nigeria’s fate in the qualifiers.
The Super Eagles’ next match against Zimbabwe in Uyo will be a critical test of their resolve and determination. With the support of the NFF and the government, the team is poised to succeed.
As Honourable Kabiru said, “The eyes of the players and the officials must be on the ball always until remaining matches are won.” With this mindset, the Super Eagles can achieve greatness and make Nigeria proud.
