The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has intercepted a stolen Toyota Sienna at the Isolo Unit Command in Lagos, marking another success in its crackdown on vehicle-related crimes.
The recovery occurred on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at about 5:11 pm. The vehicle, an ash-colored Toyota Sienna with registration number LSD438GK, was initially flagged by operatives for a Vehicle Licence Violation (VLV) after the driver failed to produce valid documents.
Following standard enforcement protocols, the vehicle was impounded. However, subsequent investigations revealed that the car had been reported stolen and the driver was already on a police “wanted” list.
In a boost for inter-agency cooperation, the suspect was handed over to the Isolo Command in handcuffs on Monday by officers from the Nigeria Police Force, Ajao Division, for further action.
The Corps attributed the recovery to its growing operational intelligence and the efficiency of the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS). The NVIS digital framework allows for real-time verification and traceability, making it increasingly difficult for criminal syndicates to operate stolen vehicles.
The FRSC noted that what began as a routine traffic check evolved into a criminal interception, proving that patrol enforcement is a vital tool for national security and crime prevention.
Reacting to the development, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, applauded the ingenuity of the recovery team. He reaffirmed the Corps’ resolve to rid Nigerian roads of criminal elements by leveraging technology and strategic partnerships.
The FRSC further advised motorists to ensure their vehicle documentation is up to date and to cooperate with operatives during routine checks, stressing that such exercises are designed to protect lives and property.
