
Binance: Lawmaker Okafor Asserts Innocence in $140 million Bribery Case, calls allegations baseless.

Honorable Dominic Okafor, representing the Aguata Federal Constituency of Anambra State, has vehemently denied accusations of demanding the sum of $140 million bribe from Binance cryptocurrency exchange.
Addressing reporters at the National Assembly on Friday, the lawmaker refuted the claims, labeling them as a malicious attempt to tarnish his reputation.
In a staunch rebuttal against recent media allegations, Okafor clarified that he was unaware of any such transaction and emphasized that the motion he initiated on May 8, 2024, focused solely on probing the escape of a Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, from Nigerian security custody.
The lawmaker’s denial comes amidst a flurry of controversy surrounding the reported bribery scandal involving Binance, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges.
He emphasized that his actions were motivated by a commitment to ensuring accountability and transparency within the national security apparatus, not by any illicit dealings.
stressing his innocence in the face of mounting accusations Okafor further stated that he is consulting with his media team to determine the appropriate course of action to address the unfounded allegations.
