
BENUE CIVIL SERVANTS, PENSIONERS AND UNION LEADERS COMMEND ALIA OVER GOOD GOVERNANCE

Civil Servants, Pensioners and Union Leaders in Benue, have commended Governor Hyacinth Alia, for providing good governance for the entire people of the state, within less than one year office.
They gave the commendation on Friday, during an interaction between the Civil Servants, Pensioners and Union Leaders, held at the Conference Hall of the Benue State Secretariat, Makurdi.
In his address during the interface, the State Head of Service, Moses Ogbogbo Ode Ph.D, said the meeting was a forum to intimate the workers, pensioners and Union Leaders of some of the reforms and achievements the governor has made in the Civil service in the state.
According to him, aside the prompt payment of workers salaries, the governor has also introduced transparency, accountability and sincerity in running the affairs of the State.
Dr. Ode further disclosed the plan of the governor to reintroduce the owner occupier housing scheme for the teeming workers in the state, assuring the workers that issues of arrears, promotions and allowances will also be addressed within the shortest possible time.
While also intimating the Civil Servants of the governor’s plan to introduce the use of automated registers at the State Secretariat to curtail lateness, the Head of Service charged civil servants to support the governor delivering in their assigned roles, rather than to allow themselves to be used to distract the governor from the good works he has started.
He urged workers to always table their challenges through him, insisting that Governor Alia is willing and will always do what is best for the state and the civil servants.
In his remark, Comrade Mike Vembe, Chairman of Nigerian Union of Pensioners, said the pensioners cannot thank the governor enough, and will be going on a solidarity march to thank the Governor at the Government House on Wednesday 17th April, 2024, for the the impact he has made in the state and for taking care of the Pensioners.
He said any attempt to disrupt the good work the governor has started in the state will be heavily resisted by the Holy spirit.
Also speaking, a civil servant, Mr. Teraga Bartholomew, commended the governor for the wonderful job he has done in the state in less than a year in office, calling on civil servants to remain non-partisan, but to always pledge their allegiance to the government of the day, as stated in the Bible.
In the same vein, Mr. Jonathan Mfo, a Director of Accounts and Finance, said Governor Hyacinth Alia has done extremely well especially, in the area of infrastructure and for prompt payment of salaries, and for providing the workers with a conducive working environment.
He urged the Governor to expedite action on the payment of arrears and to sustain the payment of overhead for running of offices.
