
ALTERED TAX LAWS: MINORITY CAUCUS DEMANDS SUSPENSION OF IMPLEMENTATION

The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives has expressed disappointment and concern over allegations of unlawful alterations to the Tax Reform laws.
The caucus has called for the suspension of implementation of the tax laws pending investigations into the allegations.
In a statement, the Minority Caucus assured Nigerians that it will stand with the House to expose the circumstances surrounding the alleged illegality and bring culprits to book.
The group noted that the National Assembly is the custodian of genuine documents of laws passed, and only copies signed by the Clerk to the National Assembly and the President are authentic.
The Minority Caucus urged Nigerians to disregard any purported tax laws without the signature of the CNA and the President.
The caucus warned that attempts to foist fake laws on Nigerians are an attack on the independence of the Legislature.
The statement was signed by Rep. O.K Chinda, Minority Leader, and other leaders of the caucus.
The Minority Caucus emphasized that the allegations of alterations are serious and must be thoroughly investigated.
The caucus called on Nigerians to support the call for suspension of implementation of the tax laws until investigations are concluded.
The group reiterated its commitment to protecting the independence of the Legislature and Nigerian democracy.
