The Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) has signed a N1 billion strategic partnership agreement with the Nehemiah Foundation International (NFI) to launch a three-year National Youth Transformation Programme.
The initiative, aimed at tackling unemployment and fostering economic growth, seeks to empower 10,000 youths and women across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Abuja, the President of the NYC, Engr. Annum Jethro Terhile, described the partnership as a “transformative collaboration” designed to move youth empowerment from mere rhetoric to practical implementation.
According to Terhile, the programme will focus on critical sectors including agribusiness development, ICT innovation, digital skills, metal and technical training, and entrepreneurship.
“This initiative is centered on job creation and cooperative-driven economic participation. We are committed to ensuring that our youths are not just beneficiaries but active drivers of national transformation,” he said.
The NYC President further noted that the agreement incorporates a robust governance framework, featuring joint project monitoring, independent audits, and transparent reporting to ensure accountability.
On its part, the Nehemiah Foundation International is expected to provide technical support, donor engagement, and implementation expertise, while the NYC leverages its nationwide grassroots structure to ensure inclusive participation.
Stakeholders at the event expressed optimism that the N1 billion intervention would significantly enhance agricultural productivity, strengthen Nigeria’s digital workforce, and provide sustainable livelihoods for thousands of young Nigerians over the next three years.
