The Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE) has pledged its support for the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA). This commitment was formalized during a recent courtesy visit to NEPZA’s Managing Director, Dr. Olufemi Ogunyemi, in Abuja.
ACOE Chairman Martin Odiete emphasized the organization’s mission to uphold high journalistic standards in the evolving digital media environment. He highlighted ACOE’s capacity to assist NEPZA in amplifying its objectives through expert digital communication and content creation.
“The partnership will focus on boosting NEPZA’s online visibility, engaging stakeholders, and promoting the advantages of Nigeria’s Free Zones,” Odiete stated. ACOE aims to leverage its digital storytelling capabilities to craft impactful narratives showcasing NEPZA’s initiatives and successes.
Additionally, ACOE extended an invitation for NEPZA to serve as a platinum sponsor for its forthcoming investiture program, strategically positioning the authority as a pivotal player in Nigeria’s economic discourse. ACOE also proposed a tour of NEPZA’s operations outside Abuja to gather in-depth insights into its activities.
In a show of enthusiasm for the collaboration, Dr. Ogunyemi acknowledged the importance of media partnerships, assuring ACOE, “All your prayers are answered.” He also outlined plans to reform NEPZA’s legislation, proposing a name change to Special Economic Zone to better reflect current global practices.
“The NEPZA Act, established in 1992, is outdated. We must evolve with international standards, moving from export processing zones to encompass the broader scope of special economic zones,” he explained.
The proposed reforms, already endorsed by the Vice President, aim to enhance Nigeria’s business environment, attract foreign investment, and drive sustainable economic growth. Through this collaboration, both ACOE and NEPZA are poised to play vital roles in shaping Nigeria’s economic future.
