
APA COMMUNITIES RECEIVE CONDOLENCE VISIT FROM ALSI FOLLOWING BRUTAL ATTACKS

Ankpali, Benue State – The Apa Legacy Sustainability Initiative (ALSI) has paid a condolence visit to the communities of Ankpali, Akpete, and Ikobi in Apa Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State, following a series of brutal attacks that have left dozens dead, many injured, and thousands displaced.
The visit Led by the founder of the Initiative Hon. David Olofu, had other members of the Initiative expressed deep sorrow over the violence and displacement, emphasizing the need for collective action to demand and implement lasting security solutions.
“This is not just an Ankpali or Akpete crisis, this is an Apa crisis,” Olofu stated.
The team, which included prominent personalities such as Prof. David Salefu, Hon. Engr. Abu Echo, Hon. Elder Bernard Omaiye, Hon. Baba Henry, Hon. Owoicho Oyih, Hon. Ogwuche, Alhassan Emmanuel, former Leader of the Apa Legislative House, and several other stakeholders.
In his remarks Prof. David Salefu, Chairman of ALSI, added, “We stand by the people of Apa and will continue to seek ways to support and rebuild our communities.”
Community leaders and spokespersons recounted the harrowing experiences, with Mr. Gabriel Obochi describing the attacks and loss of lives. Hon. Elder Bernard Omaiye urged capacity holders to help, while Hon. Ben Ekah decried low security presence and lack of government aid.
Chief David Imoni, the community king, appreciated ALSI’s solidarity and called for deeper political engagement from the Idoma people. Hon. David Olofu concluded, “We can solve this together, with unity, commitment, and urgency.”
ALSI reiterated its commitment to peacebuilding, community resilience, and social justice across Apa LGA and Idoma land.

- Construction of motorable roads to interior villages
- Collective action and unity among Apa communities
