2025 Budget: House of Reps Commits to Addressing Insecurity Challenges, Pledges Sufficient Funding for Nigerian Army.

The House of Representatives Committee on Army has pledged to provide the Nigerian Army with sufficient financial allocation in the 2025 budget proposal. This assurance was given by the Committee’s Chairman, Aminu Balele (APC, Katsina State), during the 2025 budget defence session.Balele expressed satisfaction with the Army’s performance in implementing its 2024 budget, achieving over 99% implementation. “We are committed to providing unwavering support, fostering cooperation, and maintaining solidarity with our military counterparts,” he stated. “Be assured of this committee’s determination to champion the welfare of our troops, ensure adequate power provisions, and promote capacity building at all levels.”He also said, that the Committee has scrutinized the 2024 budget and discussed strategies to address ongoing insecurity challenges across the country. Balele emphasized the need to support the Army in achieving results swiftly, acknowledging the pressure for quick results from Nigerians.Despite economic constraints such as inflation and fluctuating exchange rates, the National Assembly is committed to addressing security challenges.
